Call to Action (Montgomery County Families):

Submitted by spta-vicepresident on Mon, 10/02/2017 - 19:28

The Government Operations Committee voted to cut borrowing limits for school construction/repairs. The Committee voted for cuts in borrowing limits by 9%.

The Board of Ed says we need a 10% increase to address MCPS' minimum C.I.P. needs. CIP = construction and repairs.

NEXT STEPS: The full Council votes on Tuesday. Time is of the essence. Please email and call your council members.
Please highlight the importance of having resources to address the growing enrollment numbers.

MCPS's middle school & high school enrollment alone is projected to increase by 10,000 students in the next five years. That's more than 2 middle schools, and more than 3 high schools.

We also have growing safety expenses-- for fire sprinklers, working HVACs, and safe spaces for our kids to learn.

Please help our 160,000 students, their families, and MCPS staff to address current / future needs-- this starts with adequate CIP funding.

Stedwick Elementary School PTA

2017-2018 School Year

Dear Stedwick Parents and Guardians,

The Stedwick Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) welcomes you to a promising new year at Stedwick Elementary!  As parents and guardians, we all support our children with their education. As a PTA, we work collaboratively with the school to strengthen our children’s learning.

While our Board is great, we simply cannot do this alone. We need your help in order to achieve the success and fun at our events. Please feel free to contact any of us if you have questions about the Stedwick PTA, or if you are interested in participating in one of our many volunteer opportunities. ANY amount of time you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Don’t forget to fill out and submit your 2017-2018 PTA Membership Form and be part of the Stedwick PTA for the upcoming year!  Membership dues are only $12.00 per person! All complete memberships submitted before or at the Open House, on August 31st, 3:00pm-6:00pm will receive a special Stedwick Kona Ice reusable cup (while supplies last). Kona Ice will be at the Open House selling their amazing shaved ice, be sure to turn in your  membership form and receive your special cup before they’re gone! Please note that Kona does charge for filling cup, and will also have other sizes available for purchase.

This is YOUR PTA and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend all of our meetings and events. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Our first full PTA meeting is Tuesday, October 3, 2017.

I look forward to representing the parents, teachers, and students of Stedwick this coming school year. Together, we can ensure that every child succeeds. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
